Rolston Cecil vs. Yale Suites
Innovation: Cecil vs Yale suites
Project: The Rolston, Vancouver, BC
Description: Live market research of open-plan vs. enclosed-plan homes
A market-driven design exercise was applied at The Rolston in Vancouver, BC. Within identical suite footprints, our team carried out two very different designs for 56 market homes. One design featured a traditional, enclosed bedroom space; while the other was a modern, open-plan layout (enclosable with a privacy curtain system). Based on purchaser input, the traditional plan was favoured by Vancouver purchasers, by a ratio of approximately 6 to 1. This live market research enabled Rize to adapt swiftly to real-time feedback, and give our homeowners exactly what they were looking for.
