The Main Street Car Free Festival is happening this weekend – coinciding with Father’s Day, so if you’re looking for a fun family outing, this is the place to be. A music festival, dance party, sidewalk sale and cultural expo, this is the best of the Mount Pleasant community, all organized locally.
The festival takes place on Sunday June 19th, from noon to 8pm. Main Street from 12th to 28th streets will be closed to cars from 10am to 10pm.
Come early for 11am yoga from the Beaumont Studios and Mount Pleasant BIA, and stick around for Red Cat Records’ annual line-up of up-and-coming bands, street hockey, the Anti-Social Skateboards half-pipe, and many more activities, displays and demos from Main Street businesses and organizations. A full list is on the website. This is a great showcase of Mount Pleasant’s diversity and innovation, not to mention a testament to how much people love living here.
This is one of five car-free day events happening in the city, and the organizers report that over 250,000 people participated last year. It should be (another) great day in Mount Pleasant!
Rize Mount Pleasant will be open throughout the event so if you’re in the neighbourhood, please stop by. You can check out information on the proposed development at our Kingsway at Broadway site and the pop-up retail space will be showing Velveteen Vintage’s handmade and re-imagined clothing, shoes and accessories, as well as fashion and gift items from the designers at Concordia Retail.
